As someone who started their career working front of house at a large London gallery I was please to read invigilators and front of house staff getting proper credit in this article in the New York Times. Its a tough job especially in a private gallery where the stakes are high and egos are large and easily bruised.

Even in a public gallery good front of house staff can make the difference between an amazing visitor experience and a terrible one, something which is often overlooked.

It did make me smile though to see that the article featured this photograph David Zwirner Gallery in New York. On my second day at the aforementioned London gallery I was almost fired for accidentally pressing the speed dial and calling David Zwirner, waking him up at 2am in the morning! But that’s a whole other story…
